Description
It is a component of many cultures’ barley bread, soups, and stews. Commonly, barley grains are processed into malt using an old-fashioned technique.
It is an incredibly versatile cereal grain with a flavour that is nutty and a texture that is chewy and similar to pasta. It looks like wheat berries, although it’s slightly lighter in colour. Maltose, the sugar that serves as the foundation for both malt syrup sweeteners, is naturally abundant in sprouted barley. Beer and other alcoholic drinks contain fermented barley as an ingredient.
The barley grain is used to manufacture pharmaceuticals.
