A native of Asia Minor, Bay leaves are known by many names such as Bay Laurel, Sweet Bay, and Nobel laurel.

Bay leaves are used after an appropriate drying procedure. Leaves are immediately dried to ensure they are green in colour. The bright green colour indicates its superior quality. After being plucked, bay leaves must be dried manually without sunlight to save their green colour.
